Full Story:
Title: “Love Lost and Found”

Amara had an infectious laughter that could light up a room. Her heart was once captured by the charming and hardworking Akpan, an Ibibio guy working offshore. Akpan had supported Amara through her university and fashion school, with dreams of building a future together.

But fate had an unimaginable sense of humor, for Amara shocked everyone by rejecting Akpan’s heartfelt proposal. She couldn’t explain her sudden change of heart, leaving Akpan and her family bewildered. Love can be as confusing as the scattered Eke Ukwu Owerri market.

Devastated, Akpan made a bold decision to leave the country and start afresh abroad. He believed distance would mend his broken heart, and who could blame him? After all, isn’t it easier to heal when jollof rice isn’t constantly reminding you of lost love?

Years passed, and life moved on. Amara found herself entangled with a new beau, Osagie. Now, Osagie wasn’t exactly the brightest crayon in the pack, but he had a heart as big as Nigeria. He sold two plots of land and his beloved car to gather the funds necessary for their dream of relocating abroad.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t raise the required amount of money they needed. With a heavy heart, Amara swallowed her pride and decided to reach out to Akpan. “Surely, he wouldn’t hold a grudge after all these years,” she thought, optimism tinged with a sprinkle of naivety.

But little did she know, Akpan had been waiting for the golden opportunity for revenge, nursing wounds that had scarred his heart. He saw Amara’s plea as an opportunity for his sweet, sweet revenge. Like a mischievous spirit, he agreed to help and requested that they gave him the money to handle all the travel arrangements. Revenge is a dish best served with a side of cold hard cash.

Unbeknownst to Amara and Osagie, Akpan had hatched a cunning plan. Once the money was handed over, he disappeared faster than a suya seller during a surprise health inspection. Amara and Osagie were left in shock. They also realised immediately that he had blocked all connection with them, even on all social media platforms. Karma can be as unpredictable as Nigeria’s electricity supply.

With their dreams shattered and pockets emptied, Amara and Osagie learned a valuable lesson: not everyone is as forgiving as jollof rice when it comes to matters of the heart. Their hearts ached as they realized the price they had paid for Amara’s past actions.

Amidst the pain and turmoil, Amara’s reflection gave birth to a newfound clarity. She had been foolish to let love slip through her fingers, to take Akpan’s love for granted. But life had a way of offering second chances, even in the streets of Owerri.

Filled with determination, Amara made up her mind that despite what had happened, whenever she finds Akpan, she would seek his forgiveness. She knew it wouldn’t be easy, but love and a convincing apology had a funny way of paving unexpected paths.

In Amara’s quest for redemption, she realized that her story was a tale of love lost and found. She had lost Akpan’s love but she had also found Osagie’s love and didn’t intend to take it for granted.

  1. You’re amazing madam! This innovation, I believe, would gain much audience as it majors in something you have gained mastery on. I was excited that the stories were short yet with all the interesting details. And I must say I live your effortless use of puns which reveals your humorous character. Well done ma’am! 👍🏾

  2. Akpan could have just let bygone be bygone, that kind of revenge i think was to hash.
But any way what i enjoy most is the characters and there mindset.
